Finpecia (finasteride) is used to treat male pattern hair loss (MPHL). In some cases, Finpecia is also recommended to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) for men suffering from an enlarged prostate.
Take one tablet daily or as directed by your doctor. This drug may be taken with or without meals.
For maximum benefit, take Finpecia regularly once a day.
This drug usually must be taken regularly for 3 months for the benefits to be noticeable.
Once treatment is stopped, any gain in hair quantity will be lost.
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you notice any breast lumps, pain, nipple discharge, or other breast changes. These may be signs of male breast cancer.
Possible, common side effects of Generic Finpecia include:
- Feeling like you might pass out;
- Swelling in your hands or feet;
- Pain in the testicles;

Taking Generic Finpecia reults in lowering the readings of the PSA screening test for prostate cancer, so make sure the doctor knows you are taking this medicine.
Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor first. Stopping this medicine will result in a regression within one year to the same amount of baldness as when you started.
If a woman who is pregnant with a male baby absorbs the active ingredient in Generic Finpecia, it may result in abnormalities of a the baby's sex organ development. Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must must not use Generic Finpecia.
It may take several months for Generic Propecia to work and show results.
Before taking Generic Finpecia, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this medication, or to a similar medicine called dutasteride (Avodart).
Generic Finpecia should never be taken by a woman or a child.
Generic Finpecia can be absorbed through the skin, and women or children should not be permitted to handle finasteride tablets. Although finasteride is not for use by women, this medication can cause birth defects if a woman is exposed to it during pregnancy.
Generic Finpecia tablets should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or who may become pregnant. If a woman accidentally comes into contact with this medication from a broken or crushed tablet, wash the area with soap and water right away. Call your doctor at once if you notice any breast lumps, pain, nipple discharge, or other breast changes. These may be signs of male breast cancer.
There may be other drugs that can interact with finasteride. Tell your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
If you miss a dose of Generic Finpecia and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to you regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
